Family portrait session - Cocoa Beach, FL

When you live in Florida, it's not uncommon for extended family to come down here to visit.  I mean, why not?  The weather is gorgeous, the beaches are sunny and beautiful, and you can still wear flip flops in the middle of winter.

Most of this family already lives here in Florida.  When their sister and her family came down for a visit over the holidays, they decided to schedule a family portrait session and save some of these memories.

They had a small window of opportunity that, unfortunately, fell right in the middle of the day.  But we made the most of it and captured some great images in the midst of it all.

I'll usually get some group shots first, when everybody is still fresh and ready to pose.

But it doesn't take long to turn the kids loose and just let them play and enjoy their surroundings.  I keep the camera ready and just keep shooting!

These times when everyone is together . . . .they get more and more rare.

So these moments are worth hanging onto . . . for a lifetime!

Family reunions can really be a lot of fun to photograph.  All the different dynamics and personalities tend to translate into some great moments.  When this family contacted me to set up a session over the holidays, I don't think I fully realized just how much joy they would bring that day.

The beach was a perfect setting with the beautiful blue sky and fluffy clouds overhead.  The crashing waves and sandcastles were the final touches to a fantastic late afternoon.

I loved this idea!!

They reenacted a family photo that they took when the kids were much younger.  I gave them a black and white version to match the older photo on their wall.

Winter in Florida is best shared with those you love!

Location, location, location!

Shortly after a new client contacts me, the question inevitably comes up as to where I would recommend we do a photo session.  Where would be a good location for us to do the shoot?  I get it!  It's usually the next big decision after you make the choice to book a photo session.  And quite honestly, there are so many options!  I actually have a list that I keep of different locations based on the style.  Are you interested in the beach style, or near the river?

Would you prefer lots of trees or more of an urban feel?

How about wide open fields or a worn and abandoned look?

No matter what feel you're looking for, I'm excited about finding the perfect location for you and making it memorable and fun!!  Are you looking for something specific that I haven't even mentioned here?  Leave a comment and let me know.  We can work together and make it happen!

The weather recently has been hit or miss as far as rain.  When I scheduled a portrait session with this family we knew we had a 50/50 chance of getting rained out.  Nevertheless, we continued to move forward and plan the time together.  Even within an hour of our meeting time, it was still raining off and on and we weren't sure it was going to happen.  By the time we connected it had slowed down to a drizzle and we ventured to the beach for a delightfully cooler evening - and no rain :)

As you can see, this family is incredibly photogenic.  I so enjoyed our time together!  And their dog . . . so cool!!

Don't let the possibility of rain stop you from scheduling a portrait session.  We'll make the most of our time together.

And it just might wear the dog out too! ;)

Senior portrait session - Melbourne Beach, Florida

Most of the high school graduations have come and gone in our area and summer is officially in the air!  With just a few days left of this girl's high school career, we managed to grab a couple of photo hours down near the water.  It was late afternoon and that incredible golden light was streaming onto the beach.  Kiernan was such a model!!

Congratulations, Kiernan . . .and the whole class of 2017!

The best years are ahead!!

The weather here in Florida has been quite near perfect lately.  The humidity is low, the temps are mid to high 70's, the ocean is a beautiful blue, and the skies are mostly clear and sunny.  Every February I think to myself, "I wish it could just stay like this all year long".

It was on one of those perfect evenings recently that I met a wonderful family down at the beach to capture some memories in the sand by the ocean.  Their daughter was turning three!  What a magical age :)

There is just so much to explore and discover at the beach!  It's the perfect setting for portraits and candid photos.

You can't help but smile when the sand is between your toes!!

Family portrait session - Cocoa Beach

It's been unusually quiet here on my blog.  This doesn't mean things aren't happening.  It simply means I haven't taken the time to sit down and share my events :)

Let me catch you up a bit!

Look at this beautiful family!  They are currently featured on the front page of my website!!  Six siblings with the seventh on the way - wow!  Talk about a party!

We met at the beach in the late afternoon hours.  I rounded up all the kids for some more formal shots before we really started having fun.  I loved how the shoes were quickly kicked off!

It wasn't long before the boys were off exploring the beach together.

These beautiful girls were so much fun to be around!

All three of them are stunning!

We happened to be there at low tide, so I couldn't resist encouraging the siblings to run across the wet sand.  What a fantastic group!

There is no doubt this new little baby will be well loved in this family!

I love the beach!  You would think that living so close to the sand and ocean would mean that I'm there all the time.  Unfortunately, after living here for twelve years now, I have to pretty much schedule a beach date or it doesn't happen.

Taking pictures at the beach can be good and bad.  The sun can add the perfect lighting - depending on the time of day.  The sand can wreak havoc on my camera equipment if I'm not careful.  The wind may or may not be an issue and you often have to just go to the beach to test it out.  All this to say - I'm more than happy to meet you at the beach for a portrait session, and if the elements there aren't working for us, we can always move the session elsewhere!

Thankfully, when I met this family at the beach recently, it turned out to be the perfect setting.

The weather couldn't be better and the beach was relatively quiet.  And these two boys were such good sports about the whole thing!  They were up and out of their warm beds before the sun was even close to rising.

I was so impressed with how happy and compliant they were the entire time!

We had plenty of time to get individual portraits as well as some beautiful family portraits.

And we couldn't resist rolling up the pants and doing some splashing through the water!!

It was such a perfect morning with an amazing family!

I'd love to schedule a beach session with you as well :)  Give me a call and let's pick a date!

It's always worth it to get your toes a little sandy!!
